Destination wedding - Elopement

Destination elopement for the gods

A beautiful seaside location, enveloped in a lush nature reserve. A magical place drenched in energy and light, an ancient temple holding millennia of myths, legends, and history. Doesn’t that sound like an ideal spot for a destination wedding?

The place is Cape Sounio, in the Athens Riviera, facing the world-renowned ancient temple of Poseidon and the big blue Aegean Sea beyond…

Here, on a marvellous beachfront resort, the team behind this destination wedding editorial shoot envisioned an elegant romantic elopement, fusing the earthy and the ethereal of the scenery into a modern interpretation of a heavenly abode for Greek gods!

The team of Broderie Anglaise Events created a unique flower installation on a wave-kissed beach, where the couple could exchange vows under the auspicious shade of the ancient ruins, a one-of-a-kind altar of delightful cotton-candy pastel clouds, composed of craspedia, roses in white and sweet-peach tones, baby blue and white hydrangeas, lilac bonbon chrysanthemums, all tied together in an ethereal shroud of baby’s breath, asparagus plumosus, and white peacock feathers.

Her bouquet was also an airy pastel dream of peonies and astilbe, perfectly complementing the feathery textures of the wedding gown by Crochelle.

Wedding photographer Effie Grigoriou, managed to capture all the romance, but also the sheer joy and the vibrancy of the event… her classical beauty, his undeniable boyish charm, their relaxed intimacy.

The bride and groom strolled around impeccably manicured gardens, finally finding their wedding table set on a quiet spot overlooking the cape and the sea. In stark contrast to the romantic décor, still pastel and light as a feather – complete with actual plumes and marabu feathers – the table was a statement piece of modern design, a 1966 Knoll dining table created by Warren Platner! Edgy acrylic print stationery with tableware and glassware of astonishing style and luxury complete the concept. Champagne anyone, before we set off for the legendary sunsets of Cape Sounio?

The shoot was completed at the temple of Poseidon with the couple posing in front of breathtaking views of the ancient ruins and the Aegean Sea.

A place whose glorious sunsets and the most luminous moons attract visitors from all over the world; people travel thousands of miles to step foot on these astonishing grounds and enjoy the pure peacefulness of the monument and its surroundings. Feeling privileged to have been born and lived in a country with more than 4,500 years of civilization, we proudly present you with this unique and inspiring photoshoot.
